Aallotar – holiday cottage by the lake
A 122 m² year-round cottage on an island in Jämijärvi, Finland. Private beach, jetty and wood-heated sauna. Sleeps 8, plus a guest room for 3–5.
Aallotar is a 122 m², year-round and child-friendly holiday cottage on an island in Jämijärvi, in south-western Finland. It has its own beach and is suitable for holidays and company use. The cottage sleeps up to 8 people.
Rooms
The cottage has two floors. Downstairs there is a kitchen with living area, WC, hall, sauna and a sauna dressing room. The kitchen has a fireplace. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a living room with a heat-retaining fireplace and a balcony facing the lake. The bedrooms have double beds (160 cm and 120 cm), and there are sofa beds in the living room and the kitchen.
A guest room for 3–5 people in a separate outbuilding, also with a lake view, can be booked for an extra charge. The guest room has electric heating but no WC or washing facilities of its own.
Getting there
The island is reached by an easy-to-use, self-operated motorised ferry (100 m crossing) and in winter by an ice road. On the island it is about 800 metres by road to the cottage, which you can drive in your own car. During the spring and autumn thaw the cottage is only rented to guests familiar with the conditions.

The sauna has a continuously heated stove and a shower. On the lake shore there is a smoke sauna completed in 2016, which can be heated for you on request (€150 per heating).
A rowing boat with a 4 hp engine and a canoe are available at the cottage, and there are two rowing boats at the ferry landing. On the shore there is a barbecue area, a smoker and a campfire site.

Things to do nearby
The area offers golf, curling, snowmobile and quad safaris, horse riding, dog sledding, nature trips, fishing, canoeing and skiing. Curling and skiing are possible all year round in the Jämi ski tunnel.
A fishing licence for the lake is included in the rent, and the lake has zander among other fish. Ice fishing is excellent in winter. Fishing equipment and extra boats are available for an extra charge.

Prices are lower during the thaw. Changeover day is Friday in July and August and Saturday at other times. Arrival from 4 pm and departure by 11 am. The rent can be paid in several instalments.
